"Giant Little"
5 things we learnt from the final episode of "The Little Nyonya" last Monday...
- Turns out the No. 1 Ch 8 drama of 2008 is also the first blockbuster of 2009. According to TNS Market Research, 1.67 million viwers tuned in to the finale, making it the most-watched Ch 8 show in the last 15 years.
- Jeanette Aw isn't the only one who deserves to win at the Star Awards in April. Joanne Peh's mind-blowing (or is it mind-losing?) performance as Yuzhu is worthy of a hundred standing ovations. If she doesn't win, we demand a recount. Or else we're going to slash the seats. Felicia Chin's tear ducts deserve an honorary mention as well.
- Robert Zhang (Zzen Zhang) is a totally incorrigible fiend. So much so that we should incorporate his name into our daily water-cooler conversations. "Don't be a Robert Zhang." "Don't pull a Robert Zhang on me." "Is our Robert Zhang in yet?" Pity he didn't die a nastier death. Like castration.
- Yueniang has super regenerative powers. How the hell did she escape the raging fire unscathed? Or did Hiro whisk her away?
- There is always room for more Little Nyonya adventures, if they ever decide to sequelise it. Not so much a sequel but a 'mid-quel' focusing on Yueniang's middle-age years as she raises Yuzhu's baby. Think of it as her Clone Wars. That story arc could take up 20 episodes or more.
