Story: Chris and Linda, two Shanghai-based Singaporean newlyweds find their lives turned upside down when Linda discovers she’s pregnant, and they can’t agree about whether to have the baby in Singapore or China.
Chris and Linda are a pair of newlyweds enjoying their stint as expats in Shanghai. Chris has a cosy job at an international school, while high-flying Linda has just been promoted to a managerial position.
When Linda discovers she is pregnant, the couple are conflicted about whether to have the baby in Shanghai or back in Singapore. Linda does not want to take a leave of absence from her job and insists on staying put in Shanghai, while Chris is adamant that the baby should be delivered in Singapore. So adamant, in fact, that he purchases their tickets home in advance without telling Linda.
What begins as a debate evolves into a major marital issue that is made worse by the surprise arrival of Linda’s mother, Siok Chern, whom Chris hates. He is shocked when Siok Chern actually agrees with him about having the baby in Singapore. Angry with the both of them, Linda moves out of the apartment she shares with Chris.
Will the three of them be able to find some middle ground … before it is too late?
