Fans of Fiona, if you missed watching Fiona on TV, fret not cos she'll be appearing in a new comedy series that will make its debut on National Day!! Yep, she's the poor calafare who got rubbish and 'vomit' dumped onto her in the second commerical (the first one featuring 3 Gurmits dancing to an Indian guy's song to his pet goat).
Calefare is a comedy series about five misfits pursuing their dreams of fame, fortune and glamour in Singapore’s television industry as… Calefare – Actors. With small parts. Unfortunately, they’ve never quite made it: Andy Lau Hong has been a Calefare for 15 years and his biggest role to date is Prisoner #5. Joleen Wee is an aspiring singer who can't ... sing. Sanjay Chabra, a background veteran of 600 films fled Bollywood after his last film caused riots in the cinemas. Only Kak Pon and Hamsome seem to be doing this for the sake of doing it: Kak Pon does this in her spare time to catch first-hand gossip on the stars, Hamsome to escape involvement in the family business – loan-sharking.
Catch them every week in this 13-episode comedy series shot in HD on Channel 5 where they endure one on-set adventure after another – from huffy stars, tyrannic directors and, yes, even ghosts!
Calefare premieres on 9 Aug, right after National Day Parade at 8.20pm and starting 19 Aug, every Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 5! Starring Gurmit Singh, Fiona Xie, Benjamin Heng, Vadi Pvss and Mastura Ahmad.
Trivia: if you think you've seen Vadi Pvss before, you're right!! He's the boss of the Indian Curry House from the M1 commercial... the very guy who yelled to the guy (from Singapore, where else) over the phone, "Ehhh, Mumbai dah, INDIA!!"
